Anna-Liisa Nixon studied philosophy as an undergraduate and then earned a law degree and spent the better part of a decade litigating death penalty cases on behalf of the condemned in South Carolina and Florida. Now she uses photography as a coping mechanism to deal with her current life as a stay at home mom to three young children. She is an avid people-watcher and is fascinated by the seemingly mundane details of people's everyday lives and interactions. If she could have one superpower, she’d choose to be invisible so that she could observe strangers a little less awkwardly. She can’t tell an actual joke to save her life (just ask her husband), but her dry sense of humor comes across in her images. She loves puns and beer, and could spend hours laugh-crying at videos of dogs eating with human hands.
