The DFP Scholarship Fund supports photographers who encounter barriers due to race, ethnicity, culture, gender expression or identity, sexual or intersectional identity, ability, socioeconomic status, as well as other marginalized communities.

One of DFP’s visions is to create a community and platform which celebrates and empowers photographers and families of diverse backgrounds and stories. We believe we should be using our privilege to ensure that all photographers and all families feel seen, feel valued, and feel represented.

Through the DFP Scholarship Fund, we are able to organize and award a series of scholarships for photographers which include access to mentoring and educational opportunities, financial support, and various other tools and resources to help develop and grow their skills.

Since 2018, DFP has quietly funded over €52,000 in scholarships to members of the community in the form of financial support, mentoring, educational access, and business resources. In 2021, we decided to create an application process for scholarship opportunities, enabling us to better support more members of the DFP community.

These scholarships are made possible through a portion of Documentary Family Photographers Worldwide Ltd.’s profits going towards this fund, along with the generosity of people who donate to the fund.

Eligibility

Scholarships are open to marginalized photographers of any nationality or geographic location.

  • There is no fee to apply

  • Applications must be in English

-Applications are open numerous times a year for various scholarship opportunities.
-Available opportunities and application dates can be seen below.
-Scholarships will be awarded after all applications are reviewed by a diverse panel.
-Scholarships for mentoring, educational opportunities, resources, and the like cannot be traded for cash value/financial support.
-All decisions are final.
